Where are the Crowds??? I've been going to the Tidefest Art Festival in Gig Harbor, WA for about 10 years - 8 of which were to help my mom (an amazing ornament maker - she makes her own designs, hand cuts each piece, hand knits the little tiny sweaters, and SO MUCH MORE) and 2 of which to sell my art - and have never seen such a low turn out. This is one of the best run shows and best artist supported shows I've seen, and I know they continued their 27th annual show with the same amount of advertising and all out effort. But WHERE ARE THEY? Was it the little bit of snow? The rain? The economy?... Or maybe a little bit of everything. Despite the low turnout, however, the people who came were shopping, and I met some great customers and fellow artists. I have to admit, I LOVE doing the weekend shows. I saw returning customers from last year (thank you!) and met some wonderful new customers this year (thank you!) I found a lovely home for two of my favorite recent paintings too. As much as I love the shows, though, I am grateful that it was my last show of the season, and I'm looking forward to spending more time painting, playing with the kids, and getting back in shape going for runs with my dog.
After doing my art for 3 years as a part time endevour in the middle of the night, I am even more grateful to have taken the leap of faith and paint full time over the past year plus - despite a husband who has made the same leap (a freelance writer) which makes the budget an unpredictable and sometimes scary thing! What a great year. Thank you to everyone who made it possible! We sincerely appreciate every one of you!
P E A C E to you, your family, our country, and planet this holiday season...
